R&B singer and friend Dookie Blu introduced me to El Jr 4 years ago.He told me I should collaborate with him in the future.4 years later I did.
When I came up with the chorus, I sent it to my label Thug World South.Q Bosilini received it.He likes it but told me it’s missing something. He said he could hear someone singing on it.I agreed.I first thought about Dirty 3rd Records artist Chalie Boy but got sidetracked on the idea.I remembered what Dookie Blu told me years ago.Plus me and El Jr followed each other on social media platforms.
So I searched El Debarge Jr on google and listened to his music for a whole day.I was then convinced he was the perfect guy for my project. So I reached out to him.Gave him my concept and what I needed. We exchanged numbers and he went straight to work.
The next day he called me letting me know he recorded a rough draft from his home studio and wanted to see if I approved it before he record in the studio with his engineer. It was dope.I was impressed.
Two days later he emailed it to me,which was right on time because I had a studio session myself the next day.Got with my engineer and we just got creative with his voice.Glad I wasn’t closed minded about bringing El Debarge Jr in on the record. The man can sing!

Often you’ll see artists rapping in front of their favorite artists with hopes and dreams of getting a deal. That wasn’t the case for Thug World South artist Real Smokesta. He didn’t have to spit one rhyme or meet Spice 1 in person. He already knew about Real Smokesta.A Southern lyricist from Temple,Texas. The only artist from Texas on the roster.Instead of spamming and rapping for Spice 1 he jumped on the compilation “The United Underground Of America” with his single “I’m From Texas”.Not only was the Bay Area legend impressed by the song, he was impressed how professional Real Smokesta carried his self. You would think he already had a team,a manager,a booking agent or a street team but it was just him.He had structure. He had value. He had himself a deal from Spice 1.His debut single “It’s Your Time” featuring Spice 1 will be released this fall.
Born Carl Hendricks in Taylor,Texas to a 15 year old Mother is common today but wasn’t so common in the late 70’s.I know.I know.Don’t @ me either. At the age of 6 years old he was taken into custody by CPS and placed in several foster homes.By the age of 8 years old he was adopted by a Christian family from Temple,Texas The Comeger’s.Mr.Comeger served in the military and Mrs.Comeger was a cook for the First National Bank. They had no other biological children and Real Smokesta became officially a Comeger. Not to confuse him at a young age his parents kept his born name Carl the same. Now this where it gets interesting. One day he approached his new Mom as she was doing laundry and asked her a question that would forever change his name. “So why don’t you have any real (biological) kids?” he asked. Not something a typical 8 year old kid usually asks, right? His Mother looked as if she knew one day this question would come and as curious as he looked how could a parent not be truthful. She carried one time to only have a miscarriage. “What’s a miscarriage?” he asked. “He didn’t make it” she softly explains. Trying to cheer up her spirits he then said, “What was his name going to be?” and she said, “Michael”.20 seconds of silence passed then young Carl spoke, “Change my name to Michael.Michael is who I am.”His Mother granted him his wish.Today Real Smokesta has two sons also name Michael.
2020 is gone and 2021 is here.Wasting no time Real Smokesta took home “Hip Hop Song Of The Year” at the Outlaw Radio 2021 Hip Hop Awards for his single “Hands”.Helping others by spreading domestic violence awareness, Real Smokesta is quickly becoming the people’s champ. My job as a artist is to paint a picture and sometimes that can be a reflection of happiness ,pain, terror and inspiration.I don’t do what everybody else do.I actually do the opposite. What makes me happy is knowing I helped someone get out of a bad situation because I actually took the time to speak on it.” says Real Smokesta.Signed to a Bay Area Legend,Spice 1 & Q Bosilini’s Thug World South label, Real Smokesta is definitely starting the New Year off right.
